Big News

Alright...you can say it. I am officially the worst blogger ever. I love to look at other people's blogs and facebook accounts, but for some reason when it comes to mine, I feel like no one cares what I am doing. Then I get overwhelmed because I want to post everything all at once. I am going to take the advice of my sweet husband when he said in regards to my negativity towards starting to blog, "Don't let it get you down, just do something to make it happen." So even if no one cares to read this, it will be a good journal for me to keep track of the fun, exciting, and ever-changing life Kevin and I have together.

A piece of huge news that has come into our family since I last wrote is that we are going to be adding a new little member to the family. WE ARE HAVING A BABY!

Both Kevin and I felt like it was time to start trying to have a family. It was a very spiritual experience and even though we felt unprepared and uncertain of the future, we knew what we felt and went forward with excitement.

We couldn't believe that we got pregnant so fast. Needless to say we didn't take just one pregnancy test. We took one...

Then two...

Then a third, the day before our first appointment, just so we didn't make fools of ourselves by thinking we were pregnant and we weren't really. :)

All three times were positive. YAY!!!

So many emotions of joy, happiness, excitement, nervousness, and anxiety set in. Especially when we found out that the due date is December 29. I told myself I would never have a Christmas baby because I always felt bad for them because they got overlooked. But it all depends on your attitude. I, as the little mommy, will just have to make sure that I make every birthday extra special for this little one.

When Kev and I went to the first doctor's visit, it was so special. Being able to hold my sweet husband's hand and see the quick heart beat of our little baby, was a feeling I will hold dear forever. This is going to be a special experience for Kev and I . One that will bring us closer than I ever thought possible.

Baby Spencer's first picture.

That was at 8 weeks when I looked like this.

Now things are slowing starting to change.

Right now I am 18 weeks along. Past the sickness and feeling yucky all the time, to the emotional and feeling yucky only some of the time stage, but loving every minute of it. We find out in two weeks what we are having, so I will keep you posted.

Kev's Surprise 26th Birthday Party

So I had this grand idea to throw Kev a surprise birthday party. He didn't want to do anything big for his birthday. His parents always take each kid to the place of their choosing to eat with the family. Kev is changing his ways and instead of going to the nicest restaurant he can think of, he just wanted to do a family barbeque at his parents house. I thought to myself...what a perfect opportunity to invite all his buddies. He would never suspect anything. I sent out the longest text in the world to Shane, Nate, Robert, Landin, and Sal. I told them to bring their wonderful wives to eat, play volleyball, and just to enjoy each others company. I was so excited for the big surprise.

The day of his birthday I had to work, so I woke up early and made him breakfast in bed and he opened his present. I got him a foam pad for the bed because for three weeks straight he complained about not sleeping well, so I thought this would help. Well, two days before his birthday, he woke up and said, "I just had the best sleep I have had in a long time." I already got his present, so there was nothing I could do. I gave it to him and he loved it.

This is where the story goes bad...

So Kev and I are going to go on trek, so we had trek meeting all night, which was a bummer. When we got out at 10:00 I had missed to calls from Robert and Shane. They don't usually call me, so I knew something was wrong. I waited until we got home and told Kev I had to make some calls really quick. Needless to say I messed everything up. The text I sent out said that we were going to have the party on his birthday, which was Thursday night instead of Friday. I felt so so so so so bad. I started to cry and told Kevin and everything was ruined and that I was sorry and that he needed to call his friends right away.

There was a bit of good news though...

So the text that I sent was so long that it was a multimedia message. All of the people who had iPhones, which were the other three friends didn't get the message. I had reminded them about the party and the reminder said Friday, so that was the only text they got. So even though it wasn't a surprise party and I still felt really bad about Shane and Robert showing up to Kev's parents house with no one there, the party on Friday turned out great. Almost everyone got to come. We missed the Rowley's, but we were happy to have so many wonderful people come to support Kevin. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends. Thank you all for coming!

We had so much fun with friends and family. We love the Spencer's for letting us use their beautiful home. Thank you Bob, for making the best bbq chicken ever. Thank you Sheri, for showing us how to create and eat the best and biggest hamburger I've ever seen! And a huge thank you to Kev for being born and being the best husband a girl could ever ask for! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEST FRIEND & THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!

BYU Volleyball Date Night

Tonight we went on our first date in a long while because Kev has been busy as ever with homework (and me with work). We went to the BYU men's volleyball game, which was super intense. It went into five games with BYU winning by two points. It was a nail biter. Then we got to go to our favorite place to eat...Zupas. It is the best! So volleyball, Zupas, and an early night to bed. What more could you ask for?
